The Rockstars of Tomorrow La Verne web application represents a comprehensive digital transformation for a local, performance-based music school. Operating as a freelance technology consultant under the A2Zeta Creative Design name, I architected and executed this project entirely from end to end. My responsibilities spanned across brand identity, UI/UX design, full-stack engineering, and digital marketing strategy.
Applying my studies in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems at Chaffey College, I approached this not merely as a coding task, but as an opportunity to solve critical operational bottlenecks. Furthermore, having spent over a decade working as a music teacher at Rockstars of Tomorrow, I possessed a unique, insider's perspective on the exact pain points parents experience during the enrollment process, as well as what actively engages the student demographic. This domain expertise allowed me to build a highly optimized, user-centric product that dramatically increased business revenue.
The Problem Space: Identifying Operational Bottlenecks
Before this rebuild, the client’s digital presence was actively hindering their business growth. Through stakeholder meetings and technical audits, I identified several critical issues:
- Obsolete Desktop-Only Architecture: The legacy site was built exclusively for desktop environments. With modern web traffic predominantly shifting to mobile, the site suffered from severe layout breaks, horizontal scrolling, and an entirely unusable interface on mobile devices.
- Zero Lead Generation: The site lacked strategic conversion funnels. The business was generating zero actionable leads from their web presence, relying entirely on walk-ins and word-of-mouth.
- Manual Operational Overhead: Registration for high-ticket programs like Summer Camps required manual paperwork, manual payment processing, and manual data entry by the staff, leading to high administrative friction and potential human error.
- Content Stagnation: The client had no Content Management System (CMS). Any updates to upcoming events, instructor profiles, or blog posts required direct developer intervention, leaving the site chronically outdated.
Strategic UX/UI Design
Understanding that the site serves two distinct user bases—parents (who handle scheduling and payments) and students (who participate in the programs)—I engineered a dual-pathway UX strategy.
- The Discovery Pathway: For prospective students and parents, I implemented intuitive navigation that clearly separated core programs, summer camps, and band tryouts.
- The Conversion Pathway: I designed aggressive, yet accessible, calls-to-action (CTAs) strategically placed throughout the user journey, minimizing the number of clicks required to reach a booking or enrollment form.
- Brand Identity: I modernized the brand's visual language, utilizing a vibrant color palette centered around rock-inspired reds, blacks, and gold accents, paired with highly readable professional typography (Soleil, Arvo) to build trust while maintaining their energetic, rock-and-roll ethos.
Modern Technical Architecture
To deliver on these business requirements, I built a highly scalable web application utilizing a cutting-edge, modern tech stack:
- Framework: Next.js 15 utilizing the modern App Router. This provided superior server-side rendering (SSR), optimized performance, and the ability to seamlessly mix server and client components.
- Language: TypeScript was strictly utilized across the entire codebase to ensure type safety, reduce runtime errors, and dramatically improve the developer experience.
- Headless CMS: I integrated Strapi as a headless CMS, connecting it via custom REST API endpoints to fetch dynamic data. This empowered the client to independently manage articles, events, venues, and performer profiles without needing to touch the codebase.
- Styling & Accessibility: The UI was constructed using Tailwind CSS for rapid, responsive styling, combined with a custom component library built upon Radix UI primitives to ensure full WCAG accessibility compliance.
Engineering Highlights: Complex State & Payments
The crown jewel of this application is the Summer Camp Registration portal. This was a highly complex engineering challenge that required managing deeply nested state, real-time validation, and secure payment processing.
I utilized React Hook Form heavily integrated with Zod schema validation. The form accommodates multiple students in a single transaction. For each student, the user can dynamically add or remove camp sessions, select multiple instruments, and input personal details.

Beyond data validation, the form features dynamic business logic. I engineered an algorithm that computes the total checkout price on the fly. It checks the dates of the selected camp sessions against the current date, automatically applying a $50 early-bird discount if the user is registering 30 or more days in advance, while also factoring in baseline prices and varying materials fees.

Once the state is validated and the total is calculated, the application securely interfaces with the Stripe API. I integrated the Stripe Payment Element to handle the transaction seamlessly within the app's UI, capturing the Payment Intent while providing robust error handling and success routing.
Automation via CRM Integration
A primary goal of this digital transformation was reducing administrative overhead. To achieve this, I engineered a solution to pipe the validated form data and Stripe payment confirmation directly into the client’s CRM platform (GHL).
By utilizing Formspree webhooks connected to the Next.js frontend, a successful Stripe transaction instantly triggers an automated payload. This populates the client's CRM with the new leads, automatically organizing the students, their requested instruments, and their payment status, effectively automating their entire sales and onboarding pipeline.
Technical SEO & Analytics Implementation
The original website was virtually invisible to search engines. I implemented a highly aggressive, modern SEO strategy.
Using Next.js, I leveraged the generateMetadata API to create dynamic, highly optimized title tags, meta descriptions, and Open Graph data for every page. More importantly, I implemented rigorous schema.org JSON-LD structured data. By injecting structured data for local businesses, specific music courses, and individual lessons, I positioned the site to dominate rich search results in the local La Verne area.
To prove the return on investment (ROI) for these technical upgrades, I configured a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property from scratch. I meticulously mapped out page-by-page event tracking and established clear conversion funnels, providing the stakeholders with transparent, real-time reporting on user behavior and lead generation.
